Briggs is still asleep, altough he's starting to break through. This should be interesting - I've heard this is the hardest part. Once he wakes up, they will try to extubate him to make sure he can breathe on his own. This is generally when kids are frantic, can't be comforted and want to pull all the wires out while gagging on the breathing tube. I hope it all goes quickly and smoothly and we can post a picture of his sweet face without any tubes in the mouth. Anyway, there's talk that they will try to do this tonight at some point.

he looks perfect. what an angel. he is so good-natured that i am sure he'll feel no panic, especially with you there to reassure him that all is fine. hopefully he'll still be groggy enough too which will help him accept the tubes and such. good luck! you'll all do fine.

his color looks really good in this photo, btw. hope you all are hanging in there! so frustrated that whenever i refreshed the screen on this blog i was only on the "He's in!!" chapter, and got sooo worried when i didnt hear any news for hours later. duh. i didnt click on the newer chapter at bottom of screen saying the surgery was so short.
